Jerseys through the index: what changes at the border
Chargeable weight for this category
A single folded jersey occupies roughly 2,000 to 3,000 cubic centimetres and weighs 200 to 350 grams. Across the board, jerseys bill on actual weight rather than volume.
A league label is not a size
The same nominal size from two leagues can differ by several centimetres across the chest, because the garment is cut to a different body standard and because fan-version and player-version jerseys are cut differently from each other within the same league. Reading the size label alone is the single most common source of a wrong fit in this category.
Pressing and numbering change the weight and the folding
A printed or heat-pressed jersey folds flat like any shirt. Nameset printing adds negligible weight. What it does change is how the garment must be packed: a pressed jersey folded while warm can bond to the bag, and a jersey with a stiff numberset folds along predictable lines or not at all.
Light garments hide a parcel problem
Because jerseys cost almost nothing to ship by weight, buyers add them to parcels already near a weight band and push the parcel into the next band. Four jerseys are under a kilogram; they are rarely the reason a parcel got expensive, but they are occasionally the reason it crossed a line.
Packing and inspection points
- Ask for the chest measurement in centimetres rather than the size label, and compare it against a jersey you already own.
- Keep pressed jerseys flat rather than folded at the numberset.
- If ordering several, ask for them to be packed together without individual polybags to reduce the parcel footprint.
- Check that each jersey is photographed front and back in QC if namesets are involved: a misaligned nameset is visible and is a valid dispute.
- For a resale order, keep the original tags on and ask the warehouse to photograph the tag edge.
