Why does a Taobao link fail when I paste it into an order form?
Almost always because the address you pasted is a share token rather than a listing address. Order forms need the item identifier, and a share token hides it behind a redirect.
The evidence
A listing address has three parts that an order form needs: the host, the item identifier and the selected variant parameters. A share link, which is what a mobile share button produces, has none of those in a usable form. It has a token that resolves through a redirect, and the order form is not a browser, so it cannot follow the redirect.
The fix is mechanical rather than technical. Open the share link in a browser, let it resolve, and copy the address from the address bar once the listing page has loaded. That address contains the item identifier and, if you selected a variant before copying, the variant parameters as well. The whole operation takes about ten seconds and removes an entire class of failure.
The failure has a second form that is easier to miss. A share link pasted into a chat app may be automatically shortened by the app itself, and the shortened form occasionally differs from the original. Copying from the browser address bar rather than from the chat message avoids that layer entirely, which is why we recommend copying from the browser even when the chat link appears to work.
When this does not apply
Some order forms accept a short address and resolve it server-side. Where that is supported, the short address works, and the failure mode does not apply. The check is whether the order form shows you the item title after pasting; if it does, resolution succeeded.
