Do QC photos cost extra?
A standard set is normally included with the warehouse step. Extended sets, extra angles and re-photographs sit in the value-added services list and are charged per item or per request.
The evidence
The distinction that matters is between the standard set and everything else. The standard set exists because the warehouse needs to record what arrived, so it is part of the intake process rather than a service you buy. That is why it is included, and why its angles are chosen by the warehouse rather than by you.
Extra angles, extended sets and re-photographs are services, and services carry a line item. They are usually charged per item rather than per order, which means the cost scales with the number of items you want photographed rather than with the size of the parcel. On a large haul this is the detail that turns a small per-item charge into a noticeable figure.
The value calculation is straightforward once you separate the two paths. A re-photograph request costs one service fee. A return after export costs the international leg in both directions plus clearance handling. The fee is smaller than the return by a wide margin, which makes the extra angle one of the better-value purchases available in a haul, provided it is requested for a reason rather than as a general precaution.
When this does not apply
Where the re-photograph is requested because the original set was unusable, such as a set shot in conditions that make the material impossible to assess, some warehouses will re-shoot without charging. That is a service-quality conversation rather than a fee conversation, and it is worth having before paying.
